A Heritage Statement explains how a proposed development might affect a historic building or area. It is usually required when a site involves heritage assets such as a Listed Building or Conservation area The document describes the historical importance of the site and assesses whether the proposed work will preserve or harm that significance. It also explains how the design has been adapted to protect or respect the historic character of the building or surrounding area.

Design & Access Statements

A Design and Access Statement supports a planning application by clearly explaining the vision, functionality, and inclusivity of a proposed development.

They will demonstrate how new technologies are sensitively integrated into existing buildings without compromising their character or surroundings. It justifies design choices, materials, and placement, showing how visual and environmental impacts have been carefully considered. The statement also addresses accessibility, ensuring the development remains usable and inclusive for all.

Design and access statements aim to reassure planning authorities that the proposal is thoughtful, context-aware, and aligned with sustainability goals while maintaining the integrity and usability of the original structure.

Green Infrastructure Statements

A Green Infrastructure Statement explains how a development will protect or improve natural features and open space around the site. This can include trees, landscaping, wildlife habitats, drainage features, and green spaces.

The aim is to show how the project supports biodiversity, manages water sustainably, and improves the local environment. For example, it might include plans for tree planting, habitat creation, or sustainable drainage systems. These measures help developments contribute positively to the wider environment rather than harming it.
