When does solar require planning permission?

Solar PV installations, including ground mounted systems, are often permitted development. However, Planning Permission may be required in certain circumstances — such as listed buildings, conservation areas, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, large-scale or multiple arrays, or where boundary distances don’t meet permitted development limits (which differ between England and Wales).

If required, we can also prepare all supporting information, including site layouts, elevations, location plans, and planning statements — clear, accurate, and tailored to give your project the best chance of approval.

Ground-Mounted Solar

Ground mounted solar installations will often require Planning Permission, depending on scale and location. We help you determine the right route from the outset, ensuring your proposal is policy-compliant and technically sound.
